I helped my Boss buy his first Porsche. Quite a treat for a young, bright-eyed professional male like me. Coming back down to earth, it was apparent that Accounting was in my DNA.
I helped my father with his bookkeeping when I was a kid. He had an electronics importing business (now retired, at a young age).
So, bookkeeping is a natural fit for me. But as Bill Gates once said: “Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don’t think anybody can talk meaningfully about one without talking about the other.”
WHAT I’VE DONE
I was given an opportunity to unleash the potential of technology for a business and I jumped at it. In fact, the future survival of that business depended on it, even though the business was thriving. Fundamental systems weren’t in place and what was there, was badly used.
We are talking about:
• The Accounting System
• The CRM system
… the building blocks of any business.
HOW I DID IT
I jumped in and assisted in the implementation of these two systems to ensure:
a) Relevant business data was collected,
b) Business information was collated & checked for accuracy
c) Information was disseminated to the stakeholders in a timely manner.
Finding an appropriate CRM for this business was a challenge. Finally, a custom system was designed from the ground up.
